October 14, 2017 Meeting

Thank you to the brethren and visitors who supported Olive Branch 26 at our stated meeting on Saturday the 14th.  With six of the brethren on hand, we were a little shorthanded, but we were able to conduct our business, receive the DDGM on his second official visit.

A Contemplation: Significance of Three

1 Thessalonians 5:23

Ephesians 3:15-18

“God” dwells as spirit, “self” dwells as soul or psyche, “senses” dwell in the body and determine favorable or unfavorable stimuli for the soul.  The “soul” is the meeting point between body/self and self/spirit.

The soul is self-determinate and can choose to accept or reject things in its environment.

A Lodge of Union

Welcome.  I thought that I would share with you what makes Olive Branch Lodge special.  As you can see from the images above (click on them to see them better), the very first recorded Masonic meeting in Texas occurred in San Felipe on Feb. 11, 1828.  Stephen F. Austin and six other Freemasons met and voted to petition the Grand York Lodge of Mexico to be allowed to form the "Lodge of Union" at San Felipe.

Because of the Texas Revolution, that lodge was never formed and Stephen F. Austin's desire was left unfulfilled.  However, after Stephen's death, a lodge was established in San Felipe in 1860 and they met in the upper room of the 1840s church building.  This lodge moved to Sealy in 1933.

Olive Branch Lodge No. 26 was reconstituted in San Felipe because its original township of Cincinnati, Texas no longer exists.  It is our hope that Olive Branch Lodge may become a "lodge of union"  – a place of agreement and accord –  in San Felipe as our lodge works to build up and support historical San Felipe, Texas.

A Master's Message: Brotherly Love, Relief, Truth.

As we study Masonry we come to the awareness of three grand principles on which our Order is founded:  Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth.

Masonry teaches the unchanging law of the brotherhood of man deriving from the fatherhood of God.  Our order strives to join men who believe in the supreme creator and sustainer of the universe and who desire to build up one another rather than tear each other down as is the norm outside of the walls of our lodges.  When we exercise brotherly love we seek to build each other up, support and protect one another.  We seek to relieve the distress of others where we can, and more especially that of a brother Mason.  It implies that we treat others in all respects as we would like to be treated.

A Note from the Master

I went back and checked my emails to see if I could find where our installing officer had confirmed his attendance for our meeting on Saturday.

I misspoke and was incorrect when I reported that the installing officer had confirmed his attendance.  He had confirmed it at the last Olive Branch meeting.  I relied upon that commitment and mistakenly presumed that he had confirmed along with a group of those who had responded.  The fault was my own.

Thank you for attending our stated meeting Saturday and for your support of Olive Branch Lodge!  In fact, “thanks a million!"

With your help, Olive Branch Lodge No. 26 will continue to move forward in 2017-18.

JULY 8, 2017 MEETING REPORT

A new year begins for Olive Branch Masonic Lodge No. 26,  "A Lodge of Union"

The stated meeting of July 8 was a fun time of Masonic work, brotherly love, and just a fun Fourth of July celebration.  It paid to be in attendance.  In fact, it paid a "million bucks."  I hope that you enjoy your Masonic bucks, but don't try to spend them!

Contrary to the belief of some, Olive Branch Lodge No. 26 is alive and conducting business.  Our next meeting will be October 14.  Please come and participate.  Please bring a friend and come and enjoy our "Lodge of Union."
